The Saint Anna Festival
One of the most spectacular festivals of the entire island of Ischia is dedicated to Saint Anna, mother of Mary and patron of pregnant women
The festival takes place on the evening of July 26 in the waters of the Aragonese Castle of Ischia Ponte. It is a magical night centred on the parade of decorated boats that sail on the sea to compete for a prize. Each boat represents one of the six municipalities of the island of Ischia, and often also the neighbouring islands of Capri and Procida participate. After the parade of the boats, a mock fire of the Aragonese Castle is organized, and the festival ends with an impressive show of fireworks, which is always cheered by thousand of people who participate from the stands, the rocks, the terraces of the palaces, and the boats in the roadstead.
